This is my first Blog of my Music Magazine Coursework for media studies. In this blog i will show you how I have been building up ideas for my Music Magazine.

I am interested in indie/rock music and I like artists such as The Killers, Muse, The Arctic Monkeys etc. Therefore the most natural choice of magazines for me to study are "Q" and "NME".
Q magazine is a magazine aimed at quite an old audience who have a mature understanding of music. Whereas NME magazine is aimed at a younger audience, teenagers-young adults(15-25 years old)

Q Magazine sold 582,000 copies per week between June 2009-July 2010 according to www.nrs.co.uk, 505,000 copies were read by people aged between 15 and 44 years old.

According to www.nrs.co.uk NME magazine is one of the best selling magazines in the UK, it sold 325,000 magazines per week between July 09 and June 2010, 294,000 of these are readers aged between 15-44. Therefore both magazines are big sellers in both terms of music magazines but also in general magazines. Both Q and NME outsell magazines such as"Mojo" and "Top of the pops mag"

  1. Great bit of research, Liam! Did you decide on what the USP is going to be for your own magazine?
